Lib Dems Win The Day In Incinerator Debate

10.20.43pm GMT Tue 21st Oct 2008

Incinerator building

The Warwickshire Liberal Democrat Group were successful in winning the day with their amendments to the "Project Transform" recommendations in today's full Council debate on the future of residual waste disposal for Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull - see previous story.

With some minor wording changes our amendments were agreed by both the Conservative and Labour group leaders, and passed by the full Council with only a few Labour abstentions.

We were able to reassert our policy position against incinerators unless they can be demonstrated to be the best environmental option, and to establish some very important key principles against which the rest of the project will be judged.
